Antonio Carlos Jobim (born Antonio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim, January 25, 1927 in Rio de Janeiro – December 8, 1994 in New York City), also known as Tom Jobim, was the Brazilian composer, arranger, singer, pianist & one of a greatest legends of bossa nova. Jobim's compositions, performed by João Gilberto, gave birth to the genre in the early 1960s.
Jobim's roots were planted firmly in the works of Pixinguinha, a legendary musician & composer that began in a Thirties the development of modern Brazilian music. He was as well influenced per music of French composer Claude Debussy and by jazz music as well.
Jobim discovered prominence whenever he team using writer & poet Vinicius de Moraes in providing part of the music for the play Orfeu first state Carnaval (1956), that late gained wide recognition in the film Black Orpheus. A lyrics for his virtually all popular songs were written by diamond state Moraes.
Jobim is recognized a world complete when one of the virtually all influential composers of the 20th century.
Jobim was buried in the Cemitério São João Batista in Rio de Janeiro.
